In this edition of Nonprofit Spotlight, join Trinsic Residential Group in recognizing the work of El Centro Hispano, a Latino nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the community, building bridges and advocating for equity and inclusion for Hispanics/Latinos in the Triangle Area of North Carolina.
Listen above for a conversation with Eliazar Posada, acting president and CEO of El Centro, about the work the organization does in education, economic development, health and advocacy in our community.
El Centro Hispano was founded as the Hispanic Resource Center in 1992, and became an independent nonprofit in 1997. In the past two decades, El Centro has greatly expanded outreach and utilities for the Hispanic community in the heart of North Carolina.
Recently, a fire at a Carrboro apartment complex caused Posada to lose “almost everything in [his] apartment,” according to a post on Facebook. Since then, co-workers at El Centro Hispano set up a GoFundMe to raise money to aid Posada. As of Tuesday morning, donors raised more than $7,000.
