George Hage and Danny Johnson of the band Jack the Radio stopped by Live & Local this week, ahead of a show this Saturday, August 16, at Cat’s Cradle Back Room.

One of the Triangle’s favorite local bands, Jack the Radio have been rocking together for 15 years (minus a brief hiatus in the middle). Last year’s album “Under Lonely Light” proved the gang is better than ever – and they’ve earned just as much acclaim for their live performances as their work in the studio.

“It definitely started as a call to action,” Hage says of the band’s enigmatic name, “and over time the name has kind of turned into this skeleton comic book character.”
Saturday’s show at Cat’s Cradle Back Room will feature Jack the Radio sharing the bill with verygently and Brother Elsey – a band they also happened to co-appear with on the soundtrack to the indie film “Dandelion” just last year.
“We have not been in Chapel Hill in a minute, so very excited to get back,” says Johnson of Saturday’s show. “The Back Room is one of my favorite sounding rooms in North Carolina.”
Visit CatsCradle.com to get more information and buy tickets to Saturday’s show.
If you miss the show on Saturday, you’ll have numerous other chances to catch Jack the Radio live – starting next Wednesday, August 20, when they’re playing the free “Live After 5” show in Raleigh’s City Plaza along with Chatham Rabbits.
