Aaron welcomes (part of) the band Soda Water Sea, a 22-piece psychedelic band from Durham. Led by Andy Magowan (who also owns Durham’s Geer Street Garden restaurant), Soda Water Sea just released its first album, “The Freedom Ring,” blending spoken-word poetry and orchestral rock.

Listen to the album (and purchase it) on Bandcamp.

You can see the band live later this month: Soda Water Sea will be performing at the Fruit in Durham on Saturday, October 19, along with Carpenter-Cohen. The event begins with a pig picking at 6:00 p.m., with music starting at 7:30.

Seven members of Soda Water Sea joined Aaron Keck or Live & Local, to discuss the album and the upcoming show; they also played “Lonely Bird” live in the studio.
