From the Squirrel Nut Zippers to Certain Seas, Katharine Whalen has been a local-music icon for decades. Now she’s back with Katharine Whalen’s Jazz Squad and a new album, “To Hide A Heart That’s Blue.”
“Heart That’s Blue” is comprised of songs originally recorded in the ’30s by the great Billie Holiday and famed jazz pianist Teddy Wilson. The Jazz Squad – Whalen, Robert Griffin, Danny Grewen, and Austin Riopel – stopped by 97.9 The Hill this week to play a few songs off the album.
