Local musician Tre. Charles joined Aaron on Live & Local this week, ahead of the release of his debut EP “Currently.”
Tre. Charles made a big splash in 2021 when he dropped “Stressin,” his first single, which wound up claiming a spot on our list of the year’s top ten local songs. Since then, he’s been releasing a steady stream of acclaimed singles, but “Currently” is his first longform release. Its four songs explore Charles’ own personal mental health journey; in fact, one song, “Lately,” begins and ends with an audio clip recorded during one of his own therapy sessions.
“Currently” drops on Wednesday, April 26, and Charles is celebrating with a pair of local shows. On Saturday, April 22, he’ll be playing at Cats Cradle Back Room for the first time, opening for Devon Gilfillian. Then on Thursday, April 27, he’ll be in Hillsborough, performing outdoors at the Colonial Inn.
Tre. Charles stopped by Live & Local to discuss the album. Listen:
