Celebrating the release of a new album – and looking forward to a show at Cats Cradle Back Room this weekend – The Shoaldiggers joined Aaron this week on Live and Local.

With songs organized around a seafaring theme, “Wind, Wires, and Ways to Wander” is the new album, which drops this week. The band has been releasing individual tracks and shorter EPs over the last couple years, but this is the first collection that brings them all together.

The band is celebrating this week with an album release show at Cats Cradle Back Room on Saturday, July 15, with opening acts Country Cruel and Mystery Ranch. (As a live act, the Shoaldiggers are not to be missed – as we learned two summers ago, when they played at our “Live and Local Live” summer concert series.)

Get tickets to the show at CatsCradle.com.

And while the Shoaldiggers are celebrating the new album, they’re also competing for a spot on stage at this year’s NC Folk Festival. They’re one of four bands in the running in the “Not Your Average Folk” contest, and they need your help to win: visit NCFolkFestival.com/vote between now and July 27 and cast your votes! (You can vote once per day until the July 27 deadline.)

The Shoaldiggers stopped by Live and Local to discuss the album and play three songs: “Twelve Kings,” “Six Degrees of Freedom,” and “Two Devils.”
