Following the release of their debut EP, “Overture,” The Auxiliary joined Aaron this week on Live & Local.

The Auxiliary’s Russell Howard got his musical start as an acoustic singer-songwriter before branching off in a different, synth-driven direction with this project. He released one song in 2018 – a cover of Sia’s “Chandelier” – before diving back into songwriting. Now, he says, he’s got enough material for a full album and several EPs, of which “Overture” – fittingly – is the first.

The Auxiliary released “Overture” earlier this month, and they’ll celebrate the occasion with an EP release show Saturday, April 1, at the Station in Carrboro. The show begins at 8:00 p.m., with Gallus Mag opening.

The Auxiliary stopped by Live & Local to discuss the new EP (as well as their “Sad Songs Hotline,” which you’ll just have to call for yourself). They also played two tracks, “Overture” and “Do Yourself A Favor,” plus a live in-studio version of “Anna.”
