Spoken-word artist and hip-hop musician Shirlette Ammons stopped by 97.9 The Hill studios during Live & Local on Thursday to get the word out about this weekend’s “Horror in the Hills” Halloween party.

Saturday and Sunday, October 30-31, Shakori Hills will play host to “Horror in the Hills,” with a lineup of artists including Ammons as well as Dante High, Skylar Gudasz, and many more. Hosted in conjunction with Cat’s Cradle, it’s partly an album release party for Dante High and partly a weekend-long Halloween celebration, with camping, horror movies, costume contests, a carnival, kids’ games, a Halloween brunch, and axe throwing – among other activities.

Ammons will be performing at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening – just her second live performance of the year. In addition to preparing for the Shakori show, Ammons says she’s also working to finish a new album, “Spectacle.” Due out next year, it’ll be her first album since 2016’s “Language Barrier.”
