With the new double album “I Am” just out, Lynn Swisher Spears joined Aaron on Live & Local this week, joined by two of the 13 vocalists who came together on the project.
Lynn Swisher Spears (née Roger) composed the 21 songs on “I Am” as an exploration of womanhood in the context of her own transition from male to female. Together with producer Jon Shain, she brought in 13 female vocalists to bring the songs to life, including Rissi Palmer, Lynn Blakey, Laurelyn Dossett, and many more. The album dropped on streaming services last week – and earlier this month, all of the musicians came together for an album release show in Raleigh, raising money to support the Trevor Project along the way. For Live & Local, Lynn was joined by two of the singers, Isabel Valls and Catherine Shreve; they played three songs: “Brownville Ferry,” “No Greater Gift,” and “By and By.” Listen below:
