Acclaimed singer-songwriter Alex Riggs joined Aaron on Live & Local this week, ahead of the June 3 release of their new album Themselves!

Alex has been recording as Al Riggs for several years, but they’re billing Themselves as “the final Al Riggs album” before launching a new project, Riggings. “An album about dead people,” Themselves draws inspiration from great artists ranging from Spalding Gray to Norma Tanega to Charles Schulz. The album releases on June 3, and Alex will celebrate with an album release party that evening at the Pinhook, starting at 8:30 with Oona Palumbo. (If you can’t wait that long, Alex will also be playing as Vaxxers at Nightlight this Tuesday, May 24.)

Alex Riggs joined Aaron on 97.9 The Hill to chat about the album, the decision to make this the final “Al Riggs” release, the moment their favorite song got ruined, and more. They also played three songs: “Spalding Gray,” “Charles Schulz,” and a Norma Tanega cover, “Walkin’ My Cat Named Dog.” Listen below:
