This week’s WCHL Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Leon Todd. Leon is 95 years old, but is still active in the community.
“I belong to a group of men, old men of course, that drink coffee at the Cafe Carolina each Monday, Wednesday and Friday,” Leon said.
“So we decided we would use it and try to promote a community appreciation day and honor the various law enforcement agencies in this area.”
The celebration honoring the Chapel Hill, UNC, and Carrboro Police departments as well as the Orange County Sheriff’s Department will take place on May 3 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Cafe Carolina.
“It’s just a great place that deserves to be recognized,” Leon said about the local community. “And the people are great along with the community. I get overly enthusiastic for them at times and at a loss for words practically.”
