This week’s Hometown Hero is Kristian Richardson, a student at East Carolina who organized a backpack drive for the local YMCA to help underprivileged families.

“I decided to organize a backpack/school supplies drive where people could feel free to come donate any school supplies, pencils, erasers, notebooks, and backpacks themselves. Hopefully we could fill about 100 backpacks for the outreach program that the YMCA does serving some underprivileged families that are in our community.”
