Thursday’s Hometown Hero is Kim Lan Grout.
Kim Lan Grout does outstanding work on behalf of the disabled. She will moderate the annual “Community Read” event in the Chapel Hill Public Library on March 21.
She spent her entire childhood battling a rare disorder called Klippel-Trenaunay-Weber Syndrome. At 18, she decided to have her left leg amputated.
In 2014, she started the Redefining Disabled Project, a series of creative photoessays about the everyday lives of people living with disabilities.
You can nominate your own Hometown Hero. WCHL has honored local members of our community everyday since 2002.
