This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Flicka Bateman from the Refugee Support Center in Carrboro!

Flicka is the Director of the Refugee Support Center and spoke to WCHL’s Ron Stutts about the ongoing refugee crisis not only in regards to the southern border of the United States, but around the world.

“It’s a terrible crisis, it’s a preventable crisis. These folks have been vetted, these folks have been through horrible, horrible, horrible things and deserve a chance. They’re wonderful folks. They make good workers, they make good neighbors, they make good students, and they deserve a chance.”
