This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Annie Burton from Pathways to Change.
“We provide services that offer re-education from men who’ve been engaged in areas of intimate partner violence,” said Burton.
“Our theory of change is based on dosage,” she said. “And that dosage really is the number of hours that a person gets a reeducation, has a potential to inoculate them from the potential of committing future acts of violence against their partners and or their children.
“I’m passionate about it because I actually was a victim of domestic violence and it was not in physicality. It was emotional and financial abuse. But abuse is abuse none the less. When one person exercises control of the other person, it’s not healthy. It’s not normal.”
