97.9 The Hill and Chapelboro.com’s annual Hometown Heroes Luncheon was celebrated on March 16th, 2024, at the Blue Hill Event Center at Extraordinary Ventures in Chapel Hill. Made possible by Hendrick Southpoint Auto Mall, this event brought together those that were recognized for their community contributions on air and online in 2023.
Guests enjoyed a smooth soundtrack by local artists Griffanzo and Danny Grewen, an opening poem by NC Piedmont Laureate Steven Petrow, and Hathaway Pendergrass, District Court Judge for Orange and Chatham Counties, brought home the keynote speech with a message about his appreciation of the Hometown Hero program as a lifelong listener of WCHL, and being consistently wowed by their efforts to make our community a better place.
Several local partners were fundamental in making this event an extra special occasion including the Blue Hill Event Center, Southern Vintage Table – a local company providing vintage table rentals in Hillsborough, Blawesome Farm in Chapel Hill – who brightened each table with a beautiful bouquet, and Balloons and Tunes – making any event shine with custom arrangements.
And of course, special thanks to all those who attended this event, including Jess Anderson, Barbara Foushee, and Mark Bell, respectively the Mayors of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Hillsborough.
