Welcome to Goldfish Swim School Chapel Hill’s Community Superstar of the Month! This month, our Superstar is TABLE NC — the important local organization combating food insecurity with a focus on feeding kids and ensuring consistent access to nourishing, quality food.
Join 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey in a conversation with Danelle Alex, owner of Goldfish Swim School, and Harmony Chavis, Director of Development for TABLE.
“I think that sometimes people underestimate how many kids in Orange County are actually experiencing food insecurity,” said Chavis. “More than one in every three children in our community are facing food insecurity on a regular basis.”
According to Chavis, TABLE current serves over 900 kids every week — and efforts to grow that number are ongoing. The programs and resources available through TABLE don’t end there, either. From meal boxes and kitchen tools to Camp TABLE upcoming this summer, there’s a great deal to learn about!
