This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Fran DiGiano!
Co-founder of Clean Jordan Lake, an organization founded in 2009 that’s been doing impressive work keeping our local water resources safe and healthy, DiGiano has spent a great deal of time and effort across decades to improve the places we live — and often take for granted.
The 100% volunteer-led organization has led nearly 700 cleanups hosting 9,000 volunteers who have picked up tens of thousands of bags of trash and thousands of tires from the lake. He is a retired professor emeritus of UNC’s environmental sciences department.
