The new year is almost here and that means a lot of us are thinking about setting New Year’s resolutions. The most common resolutions are health and fitness related – “lose weight,” “eat healthier,” and “exercise more” top the list. Unfortunately, most studies find that New Year’s resolutions are abandoned before January comes to an end.

Rob Parker, one of the owners of Eat the Frog Fitness, joined us on the morning show this week and offered advice for setting healthy and realistic expectations for New Year’s resolutions. 97.9 The Hill’s Ali Evans is a member at Eat the Frog, and joined the conversation as well.

In Rob’s experience, multiple factors contribute to giving up on our fitness related New Years resolutions. He explained it’s a combination of “consistency, discipline, trying to do it alone, and most importantly – excuses.” The team at Eat the Frog can help you with the first three, but they can’t make you show up.

How can we be tougher than our excuses and outlast that dreaded January “quitters date?” According to Rob, “it really kind of comes down to how comfortable you are with where you’re at.”
