Does the prospect of getting outside and capturing some old-fashioned live music magic sound like summer to you? You’re in luck, because 2023 is looking to be the year of the outdoor concert!
Daisy Jones & The Six, the book-turned-Amazon-short-series following a rock band on the rise in the ’70s that has been on millions of screens lately, features Riley Keough — granddaughter of the one and only Elvis Presley — crooning alongside her fictional band. “Look At Us Now (Honeycomb)” is a showcase of her natural talent, and lyrics like “I wish it was easy, but it isn’t so,” really do say it all. When it comes to catching live music al fresco this summer, it certainly isn’t easy to pick and choose which shows to go to! So, with the spirit of Daisy in mind, party like it’s 1970-something with these six outdoor shows in NC!
Pitbull at Koka Booth Amphitheatre, May 12-13 at 8 p.m.
Don’t worry, whatever it is that you had planned on May 12 and 13, it can wait. Whatever parties you could have in the works, this guy has been there, done that. Catch Pitbull at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre for a ray of Miami sunshine in May. Plan to make a day (and a night) of it, maybe even grab some hotel room service (the morning after bottle service, of course) after for the full effect!
Dead & Company at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek, June 1 at 7 p.m.
You couldn’t get much more Daisy Jones than a night of psychedelic rock! Beyond the cult-classic nature of the Grateful Dead, Dead & Company — with more than a little help from John Mayer — has been putting on shows for years perfectly capturing the essence of an experience. We can’t go back to the 1970s, but Dead & Company makes us feel like we can! Party with Dead & Company for their final tour ever at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek.
Noah Kahan at Red Hat Amphitheater, June 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Taking you from being a deadhead to a busyhead, Noah Kahan is playing in North Carolina this June! It’s not stick season anymore, folks! So, enjoy a night beneath the stars as Noah Kahan brings a little bit of his northern attitude to Red Hat Amphitheater’s southern stage!
Kenny G at NC Museum of Art, July 13 at 7 p.m.
Some might call Kenny G’s sonic stylings somewhat of an acquired taste, but Kenny G is still inarguably a classic concert choice. Sip some wine, or grab a pint, and enjoy modern art on the lawn as Kenny G takes you back in time with some smooth, sultry, suave jazz. Sun and fun, summer and sax music, it’s a staple!
Goo Goo Dolls at White Oak Amphitheater in Greensboro, August 2
“And I’d give up forever to touch you…” or maybe not, considering how hot and humid early August will be… but you can still love the Goo Goo Dolls up close at the White Oak Amphitheatre! Grab a lover or a friend to listen to this classic American rock band serenade you with some of the best love songs of the ’90s!
Tyler Childers at Red Hat Amphitheater, August 13 at 6 p.m.
After all, it’s not a southern summer without a little country! Pull on your cowboy boots, dust off the Stetson and get ready to hear Tyler Childers sing his famous country-folk tune “Lady May” as you enjoy the last bit of the summer season – but not the last of the heat! – at the last show of our Daisy Jones-inspired adventure!
Now, you may not be able to see the real Daisy Jones & The Six in concert (not yet, at least), but you can still experience incredible outdoor music this summer without ever leaving the state! As Daisy would say, dream big, little birds, and see how far music can take you this summer!
