You know how when you are really busy and you have to call some company?  Then, the phone connects you and you get this message, “We are experiencing a higher volume of calls than normal.  Your call is very important to us.  Blah, blah, blah, blah.”

If the call is so important to them, you would think they could assist customers without having to put you on hold an acceptable number of minutes.

I’ll admit that I am not as patient as I probably should be in these situations, but what really gets me is that you get the feeling that your time isn’t valuable to them at all, regardless of what they claim.

It makes you wonder how we got to this point in the world of customer service, or more to the point, customer no service.  Go through this 3 or 4 times in one day and who can blame you for losing it?

And the recorded message telling you to email them or use their website to address your issue just raises your anger.  Especially, if you are calling trying to get back online.

Well, the last straw is when you hear a ring and you get that new message, “If you want to make a call, please hang up and dial your number again.”

Okay.  I’m through with my rant.  But, let me just make an observation.  Companies providing poor customer service should be called out on it.  Period.  All of this makes me appreciate MORE our great local businesses who provide outstanding customer service.  They understand how important it is to connect on a personal level.

Please don’t get so large that you lose that personal touch.
