On Wednesday, May 23 at 6pm, Hickory Tavern in Carrboro is hosting the fifth annual “Dining for Dollars” to benefit Chapel Hill-Carrboro Meals on Wheels. The event will include a dinner, silent auction and airline ticket raffle. All funds raised support the daily delivery of hot, nutritious meals every weekday to the elderly and homebound.

Rachel Bearman, Executive Director of Chapel Hill-Carrboro Meals on Wheels says, “Over the past 5 years, Dining for Dollars has become Chapel Hill Carrboro Meals on Wheel’s signature fundraising event, raising over $50,000 annually to support approximately 250 volunteers delivering 170-185 meals every weekday across Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Southern Orange County. Over the same 5 years, the demand for our services has nearly tripled, while the ability for our recipients to pay has drastically decreased. With your support, we can ensure that an even greater number of those in need will be able to open their door to a smiling Meals on Wheels volunteer with a hot, nutritious meal in 2018.”
