I love being able to talk about the experience of authentic Hillsborough. I opened a business 13 years ago and I have had the unbelievable privilege to watch Hillsborough evolve and really be the kind of place that has this magnetic, almost difficult to describe feeling that people have when they walk around.

We have things that we can offer, we have of course great restaurants, of course Hillsborough’s living room which is Cup-A-Joe in Hillsborough on King Street. We have amazing historic sites. We have the Alexander Dickson House which is the home of the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough which is our visitors center. And the Ocaneechi Village which is getting completely redone, we have all these really wonderful things that are sort of pieces and parts of authentic Hillsborough.

But when I think about what it is that makes Hillsborough authentic, it’s the fondness and love that all of the residents and the visitors who experienced it have and share with people far and wide.
