For the last five years, the Monet Richardson Community Foundation has raised tens of thousands of dollars to provide local students with backpacks stuffed with school supplies – and scholarships for students heading to college. Last month, the foundation announced it’s dissolving after five years in operation, but organizers say both of their initiatives will continue: the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA is taking over the backpack program, and East Carolina University will keep the scholarship going as well.
Aaron welcomes Pat Richardson, who founded the MRCF in honor of her late daughter Krissy.
