It’s been a big transition year for Tar Heel athletics, as longtime AD Bubba Cunningham gradually turns over the AD role to Steve Newmark and heads into a new role as “senior adviser to the chancellor and the athletics director.” Cunningham joined Aaron in 97.9 The Hill studios this week for an extended conversation about his 15-year run as athletics director, which included 24 team national championships; they also talked about the state of UNC sports – and college athletics in general – both today and in the near future.
