Aaron welcomes Magnus Egerstedt, who’s recently taken over as UNC’s new provost, the university’s chief academic officer. Egerstedt is a robotics expert and a former dean of engineering at UC-Irvine; now, he’s on a listening tour of campus as he gets settled into the new position. (It’s an exciting but challenging time to be a provost: Egerstedt says he loves UNC’s commitment to public service and he’s impressed by the work going on at the university every day, but he also has to contend immediately with massive budget cuts potentially totaling $90 million.)
