On Friday, April 24, six distinguished North Carolinians (five individuals and one organization, to be exact) were in Chapel Hill to be inducted into the North Carolina Media & Journalism Hall of Fame. This year’s honorees included ESPN’s Jay Bilas, longtime UNC journalism professor Charlie Tuggle – and Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker Luchina Fisher, who got her start at WCHL radio back in the mid-1980s.

Visit LuchinaFisher.com for more on her work, including “The Dads,” the film that won her an Emmy in 2024.

Aaron sat down with Fisher for a conversation about her work, her sense of purpose as a filmmaker and storyteller – and her Chapel Hill connection, including that early work at our station 40 years ago.
