Our society is paying more attention to teen and adolescent mental health, but one aspect of that issue is sometimes overlooked: if a young person has a crisis that requires hospitalization, what’s the best way to get them back into school and everyday life once they’re out of the hospital and heading back to the classroom?
Aaron welcomes Marisa Marraccini, a psychologist with the UNC School of Education; she’s the lead author of a new report called “School Re-Entry Guidelines: Recommendations for Hospitals, Schools and Families in Supporting Youth Following Psychiatric Hospitalization for Suicide-Related Crises.”
