The arrival of summer means big events in Mebane: Kelly previews this Saturday’s Juneteenth celebration and looks ahead to July 4 festivities, which begin with a morning performance by the Village Band and wrap up with fireworks at the Mebane Arts & Community Center. It’s also budget season, and the Mebane City Council signed off on their 2027 budget plan last week – drawing money from the city’s fund balance to pay for a new fire station without a tax increase. (Taxes may go up in subsequent years, though, to cover the staffing and maintenance for that new fire station.)
