After his career game against Minnesota on Saturday, UNC wide receiver Nate McCollum was named the ACC’s Wide Receiver of the Week.
McCollum’s 15 receptions and 165 receiving yards were both career highs, and he was one catch away from tying Josh Downs’ record for most receptions in a single game in Carolina history. A 46-yard touchdown pass from Drake Maye to McCollum – a transfer from Georgia Tech – opened the scoring for the Tar Heels against the Golden Gophers.
The honor marks the third straight week a Tar Heel has been named to the ACC’s Team of the Week. Running back British Brooks and edge rusher Kaimon Rucker earned the honors after the week one win against South Carolina, and Omarion Hampton did so after the week two win against Appalachian State.
McCollum and the rest of the Tar Heels will be back in action on Saturday night when they visit Pittsburgh in the ACC opener. The game is set to kick off at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast on ACC Network.
