The UNC women’s soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with No. 12 Alabama in Tuscaloosa Sunday night, ending a tough non-conference schedule undefeated at 5-0-3.

Avery Patterson continued her strong season by scoring her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 59th minute, giving Carolina a 1-0 lead. The Crimson Tide leveled the match 20 minutes later and had two more looks at goal before the night was over, but UNC’s Ally Sentnor had the best opportunity at a tiebreaker in the 86th minute. Her shot on goal was parried away by the Tide goalkeeper, preserving the tie until the clock hit 90 minutes. Sentnor’s four shots were the most by a player on either team.

Goalkeeper Emmie Allen did her part in securing the result as well, making a pair of saves. Her counterpart, Coralie Lallier, made six.

No. 3 Carolina will begin ACC play on Friday at home against Virginia Tech.
