Carolina slotted in at No. 4 in USA Lacrosse Magazine’s 2025 women’s preseason poll and No. 17 in the men’s poll, which were released on Monday.
On the women’s side, the Tar Heels sit behind only No. 1 Boston College (the defending national champions), No. 2 Northwestern and No. 3 Michigan. The Tar Heels are coming off a 10-7 season in 2024, one which saw the team reach the NCAA Tournament for the 19th straight year but lose in the first round. Head coach Jenny Levy, entering her 30th season in charge, adds the top-ranked freshman class in the nation to the program, including three of the top six recruits in the class.
UNC will host two exhibitions at Dorrance Field before the season officially begins: Elon will visit on January 25 before an alumni scrimmage on February 1. The regular season opener against James Madison is scheduled for 5 p.m. on February 7 at Dorrance Field.
