The UNC women’s tennis team–ranked No. 3 in the nation to start its regular season–began the year with back-to-back victories on Saturday in Chapel Hill over Elon and Charlotte.

In the first match of the day, the Tar Heels defeated Elon 6-2. Later the same afternoon, UNC picked up a 4-0 victory over Charlotte.

Alle Sanford and Jessie Aney teamed up to clinch the doubles point in both matches, before the team would go on to post dominant showings in the singles portion of both matches as well.

Makenna Jones, the nation’s No. 2 individual player, rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Elon–all while Sanford won her match 6-0, 6-1 and Cameron Morra posted a similar 6-2, 6-0 victory.

Against Charlotte, No. 4 Sara Daavettila snatched a 6-1, 6-0 win on Court One to go along with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph from Chloe Oullet Pizer and a 6-3, 6-3 win from Alexa Graham that clinched the team win.
