A match-up between the nation’s top two women’s tennis teams on Friday in Tallahassee went down to the wire, as the top-ranked Tar Heels defeated the No. 2 Florida State Seminoles by a score of 4-3.

The Tar Heels remained undefeated in doubles competition to begin the match, but the Seminoles won three of the first four singles contests to take a 3-2 lead and put UNC’s backs on the wall.

From there, however, Cameron Morra (6-1, 2-6, 7-6) and freshman Elizabeth Scotty (4-6, 6-2, 6-1) pulled off victories in three sets to steal the road victory for the Tar Heels.

The win improves UNC to 13-0 this season and 1-0 in ACC play, while Florida State dropped to 10-2 overall and 1-1 inside the conference.
