UNC freshman Fiona Crawley was selected recently to the NCAA Women’s Tennis Team Championship All-Tournament team after winning all five of her matches during the Tar Heels’ run to the national semifinals.
Crawley began her collegiate career with 30 consecutive singles victories, a streak lasting UNC’s entire dual match season. The San Antonio native lost for the first time in the first round of the NCAA Singles Tournament to Maryland’s Ayana Akli by a score of 7-5, 7-5.
She is just the fourth UNC freshman to ever go undefeated in singles matches over the course of a season in the ACC.
Her 30 victories led all Division I players in 2021 as well, which played a large role in the Tar Heels winning their first 30 matches of the season before ultimately falling short in the NCAA Tournament semifinals against Pepperdine.
Crawley was also named a Third Team All-ACC selection and a member of the ITA National Indoor Championship All-Tournament Team, an event the Tar Heels won back in February.
In the final Oracle/ITA rankings of the season, Crawley earned the No. 53 national ranking in singles competition.
