The UNC women’s basketball team lost to undefeated Oklahoma State on Monday night.
The Cowgirls knocked off the Tar Heels 77-67, handing North Carolina its fifth loss on the season.
An 18-2 run in the third quarter by Oklahoma State put the game out of reach after a back and forth first half.
Brittney Martin scored a game-high 24 points for Oklahoma State, seven of which came during that deciding run. Mandy Coleman scored 15 points for the Cowgirls.
Jamie Cherry led a comeback effort for the Tar heels with 13 of her 22 points coming in the fourth quarter.
Carolina had the lead down to three points with 1:40 left in the games but could never close the gap.
Stephanie Watts and Destinee Walker scored 13 and 10 points respectively.
Oklahoma State moved to 8-0 with the win, while Carolina fell to 6-5 on the season.
Carolina returns to action in Carmichael Arena at four o’clock Wednesday afternoon against USC Upstate.
