The ACC announced Wednesday that UNC’s Anton Down-Jenkins and Aranza Vazquez have been selected as the league’s Male and Female Divers of the Year.
Down-Jenkins, a junior from Wellington, New Zealand, swept the springboard events at the 2021 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships on the way to being named the event’s male Most Valuable Diver. He also placed fourth overall at the NCAA Championships.
Vazquez made quite the impact as well as a freshman from La Paz, Mexico. She won the ACC title in the 3-meter and platform events, while finishing second in the 1-meter. At the NCAA Championships, she won the silver medal in the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions and was a finalist on the platform.
In addition, UNC diving coach Yaidel Gamboa was named the ACC men’s and women’s Diving Coach of the Year.
