The UNC men’s soccer team released its schedule for the upcoming 2021 season on Friday, with the season opener set for Aug. 26 at home against Bucknell.
Prior to that opener, the Tar Heels will take on defending national champion Marshall (Aug. 15) and Liberty (Aug. 20) in exhibitions — with the game against Marshall coming at home.
UNC plays host to VCU (Aug. 29) and Georgia Southern (Sep. 3), before taking its first road trip of the season to play at Davidson on Sept. 6.
The Tar Heels remain on the road for their ACC opener at Pittsburgh on Sept. 10, then return to Chapel Hill for home dates against Campbell and Duke.
Back-to-back road matches at Virginia and UNCW following the clash against the Blue Devils, setting up another rivalry game when NC State visits UNC on Oct. 3.
Wake Forest (Oct. 8) and Wofford (Oct. 12) will also make the trek to Dorrance Field during UNC’s three-game homestand.
The Tar Heels will then close their season with road games at Louisville (Oct. 15) and Virginia Tech (Oct. 24) sandwiched around home games against Loyola Marymount (Oct. 19) and Notre Dame (Oct. 29).
This year’s ACC Men’s Soccer Tournament will be held from Nov. 7-14 at campus sites until playing the championship match at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
UNC will be looking to build off a successful season last year where they made a surprise run to the College Cup semifinals and earned the No. 4 ranking in the season’s final United Soccer Coaches Poll.
