The UNC men’s tennis team won a top-10 matchup at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center for the second consecutive weekend when the Tar Heels defeated Oklahoma on Sunday.

The Tar Heels knocked off Illinois 4-0 last weekend; the Illini came into Chapel Hill ranked No. 7.

This weekend it was No. 5 Oklahoma visiting the now-seventh-ranked Tar Heels.

The Sooners led Carolina 3-2 after taking the doubles point and splitting the first four singles matches. It was the first doubles point UNC has lost so far this season.

With the Tar Heels down, Brett Clark and Robert Kelly won their singles matches to give Carolina the 4-2 victory, which moved UNC to 6-0 on the season.

UNC is now the only team in the country with wins over two top-10 teams this season, according to the university.

Carolina will take part in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Charlottesville, Virginia, February 12 – 15. The next home match for the Tar Heels is February 21 when Carolina plays host to the Wofford Terriers.

The UNC women’s tennis team will play in the ITA National Women’s Team Indoor Championship match at noon on Monday. The third-seeded Tar Heels knocked off number two seed Georgia on Sunday to advance to the championship match against fourth-seeded Cal. A victory would be UNC’s second straight title in the tournament and third in four years.
