The UNC men’s soccer team made its first appearance in the United Soccer Coaches Poll on Wednesday, breaking in at No. 3 in the country after defeating then-No. 3 Clemson with a last-second goal last Friday.
Through two games this season, the Tar Heels are 2-0 with a win over Duke in addition to the upset over Clemson.
Wake Forest is the No. 1 team in the country, followed by Pittsburgh, UNC, Kentucky and Virginia.
Due to a reduced number of teams competing this fall because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the men’s rankings are made up of just five schools.
UNC is scheduled to return to action on Sunday against No. 1 Wake Forest in Winston-Salem.
