College basketball season might have just reached the offseason, but it isn’t too early for UNC junior forward Luke Maye to start racking up preseason nominations.

247Sports named Maye to its Way-Too-Early college basketball All-American team, with the junior earning first team honors.

Here is what the site said about Maye:

Maye is one of the great stories in college basketball, a player who many felt was an afterthought after he was signed as the No. 155 player in 247Sports Composite, having a monster season that saw his name on certain accomplishments next to Tar Heel greats like Antawn Jamison. Now Maye enters his senior year in Chapel Hill as arguably the favorite to win the Wooden and Naismith awards after averaging 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game as a junior. Maye impacts the game in several areas — he also averaged 2.4 assists, a block and a steal per game — but his ability to play inside-out offensively and shoot 43.1 percent from three makes him super dangerous.

Despite entering the NBA Draft process, Maye elected to return to Chapel Hill for his senior season. With Joel Berry and Theo Pinson moving on to the NBA, Maye will be a focal point as Roy Williams and his staff attempt to replace those two seniors.

The Tar Heels will also welcome top recruits Nassir Little, Coby White and Rechon Black to Chapel Hill this season.
