Mack Brown met with the media following UNC’s spring game and discussed his evaluations from spring, the quarterback battle, and how the Tar Heels will move forward before the August 31 opener against South Carolina.

“I thought today was good,” Brown said. “We got exactly what we needed out of it. I was afraid nobody would show up with all the weather issues.”

Brown also revealed that “Be The One” is the team’s motto for the next season. Running back Antonio Williams said the team has been buying in to this mentality and it’s caused some to step up their level of play.

“Be the one on fourth down that Coach [Phil Longo] and I look to to run the ball,” Brown said. “Be the one on fourth down to be the pass rusher that gets to the sack. Be the one when you’re against Virginia Tech, you’ve got 4:23 left, 97-yards to go that gets the turnover.”
