UNC and Georgia Tech announced Tuesday that the football game between the two schools on Sept. 25, 2021 will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Georgia Tech typically plays its home games at the on-campus Bobby Dodd Stadium, but will instead host the Tar Heels at the home the of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons–who are now coached by former UNC offensive lineman Arthur Smith.
The state-of-the-art venue seats 71,000 fans and was opened in 2017. In its short life-span, Mercedes-Benz Stadium has already hosted the College Football Playoff title game and a Super Bowl.
With UNC set to enter the year ranked among the top programs in the nation, this news will bring an even bigger feel to the game when the Tar Heels and Yellow Jackets officially kick off their game.
