Sophomore first baseman Michael Busch went 4-for-5 with a solo home run on Saturday at Boshamer Stadium to help lead the UNC baseball team past the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 6-1–clinching the weekend series victory for the Tar Heels.

Busch’s home run in the bottom of the eighth served as little more than insurance for UNC (17-10, 7-4 ACC), which scored once in the fifth inning and three times in the sixth to break open what had been a 1-1 tie.

A two-run double from Cody Roberts in the sixth inning ultimately gave the Tar Heels all the breathing room they would need, as Wake Forest (11-16) only managed five total hits against the UNC pitching staff.

Austin Bergner earned the win on the mound after yet another strong start–tossing six innings and surrendering just one run in the top of the second inning.

Out of the bullpen, Cooper Criswell and Brett Daniels combined to shut the door and seal up the victory for the home team without much trouble.
