The UNC football program filled out its lone non-conference game of the season on Saturday, when it announced that it will host the Charlotte 49ers at Kenan Stadium on Sept. 19.
This comes after the ACC made the switch to a 10-game conference schedule for this season, with teams also able to schedule one non-conference opponent as long as the game takes place in a state with an ACC institution.
Charlotte went 7-6 last season under first-year head coach Will Healy, and capped the season with an appearance in the Bahamas Bowl.
The 49ers have only had a football program since 2015, making this the first meeting ever between UNC and Charlotte on the gridiron.
