As UNC men’s basketball snapped a two-game skid to the Kentucky Wildcats, and an 18-year streak of not having won in Rupp Arena, Tar Heel fans and dignitaries quickly took to social media to celebrate.
Tuesday’s game went down to the wire, with freshman guard Derek Dixon hitting a pair of crucial buckets in the final minutes to push the No. 16 Tar Heels to the 67-64 victory over the No. 18 Wildcats. The win is UNC’s first true road win of the season and moves the team to 7-1.
Afterward, fans, former players and others in the UNC community shared their celebrations of the victory on social media. Below are some of the highlights.
Carolina will now have a few days to regroup and return to Chapel Hill before hosting Georgetown on Sunday, Dec. 7. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.
