A pair of UNC men’s soccer stars–defender Alex Comsia and forward Giovanni Montesdeoca–were recognized Monday as the ACC Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week.
This comes after Montesdeoca scored both goals in the Tar Heels’ 2-0 shutout victory over Clemson last Friday–a game in which Comsia played a large role in preserving the clean sheet.
In total, UNC has posted three straight shutouts with Comsia in charge of the defense. Montesdeoca, meanwhile, moved into the team lead with five goals so far this season.
The award is Montesdeoca’s second this season and second in as many weeks.
UNC returns to the pitch on Tuesday when it hosts UNC-Wilmington at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
