Some good news surrounding the UNC men’s basketball program came on Thursday with the announcement of this year’s McDonald’s All-American Game roster, as the Tar Heels lead the entire country with four players selected to participate.
Of the 24 high school seniors selected, three have signed with Duke and two have pledged loyalty to Kentucky–the only other programs with more than one player chosen. Four players have still yet to commit to a college.
Centers Day’Ron Sharpe and Walker Kessler will join guards Caleb Love and R.J. Davis as future Tar Heels playing in the country’s most prestigious high school All-Star game on April 1 in Houston.
Sharpe is the No. 14 ranked player in America according to 24/7 Sports Composite Rankings, with Kessler and Love just behind at No. 16 and No. 21 respectively. All three players are classified as five-star recruits.
Davis, meanwhile, is listed as a four-star recruit ranked at No. 58.
The only member of UNC’s incoming recruiting class not named a McDonald’s All-American was 6-foot-7-inch wing Puff Johnson. The younger brother of Cameron Johnson is also a four-star recruit who checks in at No. 46 on the 24/7 Sports Composite Rankings–12 places higher than Davis.
