It didn’t take long for Mack Brown to make his first addition the UNC football staff, as it was announced Thursday afternoon that Brown has hired Texas A&M tight ends coach Tim Brewster to a similar role.

Brewster previously worked with special teams, tight ends and as the recruiting coordinator under Brown from 1989-1997 during the coach’s first stint with the Tar Heels.

He then followed Brown to his next stop at Texas, where he spent four years with the Longhorns’ tight ends from 1998-2001.

Upon leaving Texas, Brewster spent the next five years coaching in the NFL–spending three seasons with the San Diego Chargers and two with the Denver Broncos.

A three-year head coaching stint at Minnesota came after his time in the NFL was done, before being fired midway through the 2010 season.

Most recently, Brewster was with head coach Jimbo Fisher at Florida State from 2013-17 and then again last year in College Station when Fisher took the Texas A&M job.

Brewster has earned a reputation through the years as one of the top recruiters in the country, which should come in handy at UNC–especially if Brown takes on a more “CEO” type of role, as expected.
