UNC forward Luke Maye is heading into his senior season leading a talented Tar Heel men’s basketball team that checks in at No. 8 in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 released this week. The AP added to the preseason accolades on Tuesday in naming Maye to the preseason All-America team.

Maye received the second-most votes for the team, trailing only Purdue guard Carsen Edwards. Maye and Edwards are joined by Duke freshman RJ Barrett, Dedric Lawson from Kansas, Nevada’s Caleb Martin and Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ.

Martin transferred to Nevada from NC State.

Maye was recently selected by Sports Illustrated as the preseason Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year.

UNC begins the 2018-2019 season with back-to-back road matchups against Wofford on November 6 and Elon as the Phoenix are opening a new gym on November 9.
